As we are reading poetry and looking at various part of poems, can you notice some of the same figurative language in your independent reading? Using your notes from this week give examples of each of the part of the figurative language we've been discussing. You may not find all types.

In my book Beauty by Robin Mckinley I am on page 107 and there are some similes are two of those are "But it caught sunlight like a dolphins back at dawn."  "It was as big as a city".
This book doesn't really have lots of figurative language. It doesn't because this like a fairy tale book. That is all the figurative langauge I have found in my book so far.

We've been looking and studying how we relate to what we are reading to the real world around us now its time to put yourself into your main characters shoes. Thinking about the main characters of your book consider what you would do in their situation. What would your reactions how would you handle the situation? What would you do differently?

If I was in Beauty's situation and I didnt like my nickname I would ask my father to change it because it doesnt please me. I wouldn't just say I dont like my nickname I would let my father know and tell him why I dont like it and why I want the new nickname. Then I wouldnt try to tame the beast I would just tell him what I need to say! That is what I am reading so far.

I am reading Beauty By Robin McKinley, and so far it is about a girl named Honour and she hates her nickname, The quiet, skinny nice girl, So she tells her dad about that and she says" Dad I want a new nickname something that express me more, What about Beauty?" 

So she decides to go by the name Beauty so instead of Honour she decides to be Beauty!

Connection; My connection to this book is that I have a nickname but I like my nickname. Also my Inference it reminds me of Beauty and The Beast becuase it is a retelling story of Beauty and Beast. That is what I am reading so far and the connections I have and the the inference.

I can also describe my setting by making sure that I include all the details about the setting and tell if the setting is Past, Present or Future! Also to make sure that the setting is in my book and if so to tell all the details about the setting.

In my book Beastly by Alex Flinn, I have finished it. What was happening in the ending of my book was that Kyle founf his love riqht before he was about to die. The setting was outside of Kyles house. The characters wre Kyle, Lindy, Will and Madga. The Universal Theme is Message about life because him being a Beast is about his life and if he is goingto be a beast for life? That is what was happening to my book before I finished it.

In my book Beastly by Alex Flinn. The characters in my book are Kyle Kingsbury he is the main character then there is Will he blind tutor and then there is Kendra the witch who turned him into a beast. Then the side characters are Magda the Maid then there is Rob Kingsbury Kyles father. The setting at the beginning of the story was at Kyles school Tuttle then ever since he has be turned into a beast the setting is at his house because he doesn't go anywhere. The Universal Theme to me is Message about life because he is mean so he gets turned into a beast and when hes mean to people he doesn't expect for people to be mean to him so I think his lesson is treat people the way you wanna be treated.

In your book, what are some of the ways that you character(s) express themselves through their emotions? How do they show love?Anger? Hate? Why is this important to you as a reader?

Well Kyle expresses himself through being mean through people and not caring about anyone but himself. It is importanat to me as a reader because I need to know how my character acts and how he expresses himself. He expresses himself by being mean and making people feel bad. Then when he gets turned into a beast he trys to be nice so that Kendra doesn't turn him into a beast.

 It is important to use our observations/knowledge of the world around us to understand and make meaning out of what we read. Thinking about your experience with the writing excursion, how much importance does your author place on how two characters in your book dress/look? How do you know this?

In my book Beastly by Alex Flinn the two characters in my book are Kyle and Kendra, Kyle dresses nice and good because of the money his dad has, he hs he good looks not ugly, gets all the girls, and he the guy that all the guys wish to be because of what he has and gets. Then theres Kendra she on the other hand dresses all dark and evil with Black and green hair and not pretty she is ugly and has not a single good look. I know this because the author explains how they look very well and gives decriptive details. Those are the two characters!

As readers, we need to be able to look at the world around us so that we can have connections to what we are reading. Think about the world you live in. What connections can you make to your book? 
My book the connections I have is all the fairy tale stories like cinderella and beauty and beast. The main one this book is like is Alice in wonderland because Alice is hiding from the bad queen and the queen is looking for and Aislinn is in hiding. So this book makes me think of Alice in wonerland. That is the connection I have to my book Wicked Lovely!

My character Aislinn expresses her by being brave and tough and how she doesnt care about what people say. That makes me think how I express myself because she expresses her self very well to where people know who she is and how her actions are by expressing herself. I think I express myself well because people know how I am and my actions becuase I express myself well like my character Aislinn [Ash]!

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr!
My book is a smart tale about a tough girl who walks the razor's edge between an ancient faery curse and her future.! The main character is a girl named Aislinn they call her Ash shes a fairy and shes a tough a girl who knows what shes doing. I think the Universal Theme is Message about life because Aislinn is in a ancient farey curse and her furture and her furture is her life.That is what my book is so far about.
